Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Director, Tax, Treasury & Credit on a permanent basis on our Finance team. This position requires onsite work, with flexibility, based in Saskatoon, SK.

What you'll do:

  • Monitor and manage cash, working capital, debt, and external financial institution relationships, guaranteeing optimal investment returns on excess cash balances are realized while ensuring safety of capital and borrowing rates are minimized as part of overall capital structure management.
  • Ensure the appropriate capital structure for FCL's needs and support the needs of the entire Co-operative Retailing System (CRS), including maintaining a strong balance sheet with adequate access to cash or credit to execute the business plans of FCL.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements and convents of existing or future bondholders are met and/or a process is established to allow for proper reporting to be maintained, and lead bond rating agencies' reviews of FCL financial health, if required.
  • Manage the Retail Lending Program, including signing lending agreements, analyzing detailed financial statements and key ratios, reviewing forecasts and other key metrics, and registering appropriate security where necessary.
  • Lead the Tax team in tasks such as income and commodity tax planning, analysis, compliance and audits, constant monitoring of changing legislation and its impacts to FCL and local Co-ops and advising on various tax matters as FCL evolves and grows.
  • Provide specialized financial management services to local Co-ops, focusing on active balance sheet management and advising local Co-op boards and management on financial management concepts and balance sheet management strategies.
  • Ensure FCL has appropriate credit and collections policies that balance the risk in extending customer credit with ensuring bad debt expense is maintained at an appropriate level.
  • Work with various stakeholders to evaluate tools to make customer credit evaluation more efficient.

You will work closely with various business units, local Co-ops and external financial institutions and will lead the two Senior Managers for Treasury & Credit and Tax. You will report into the Associate Vice President (AVP), Finance & Systems on a team focused on cultivating a culture of collaboration, high performance, and continuous improvement.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Finance and:

  • Have 10 + years of relevant progressively responsible experience in financial management.
  • Have a university degree in Business or Commerce (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Have a professional accounting designation (CPA).
